Litecoin (LTC), launched in 2011, is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency. Created as a source-code fork of the Bitcoin Core client, it shares a highly similar technical architecture with Bitcoin. With a fixed supply cap of 84 million and a four-year halving cycle, LTC utilizes the Scrypt algorithm and a block time one-quarter of Bitcoin's to enable faster confirmations. Often referred to as the "silver to Bitcoin's gold," this long-standing network remains one of the most mature and liquid PoW mineable assets today.
