On September 29, we continued our support for Bitcoin education in Argentina with an event at the Catholic University of Córdoba (UCC). Organized by the nonprofit ONG Bitcoin Argentina, the session brought students and faculty together to explore Bitcoin and blockchain through introductory lessons, practical activities and open discussion.
The event was part of Bitcoin in Universities (Bitcoin en las Universidades), a program offering free courses to university communities across Argentina. Following earlier sessions in Buenos Aires, our support for the program continued in Córdoba, extending our collaboration with local educators to another city.
Making Bitcoin Education More Accessible
At UCC, instructors Federico Andragnes and Paula Martínez covered Bitcoin and blockchain fundamentals, mining, cryptocurrency exchanges and decentralized finance. Digital asset security and fraud prevention were also part of the curriculum, giving participants a practical introduction to the risks they may encounter when using the technology.
Students asked questions, took part in exercises and worked through unfamiliar concepts with the instructors. For newcomers, this offered a chance to learn directly from experienced practitioners and connect the course material with practical questions about using Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
Sharing a Decade of Infrastructure Experience
As a global cryptocurrency mining pool, we have spent the past decade helping build and operate infrastructure for Bitcoin and other proof-of-work networks. Our team brings expertise in blockchain protocols and distributed systems to global node deployment, protocol integration, block propagation and ongoing operations.
We draw on this technical background in our educational work to explain how network protocols, nodes and computing power work together. Connecting these concepts helps students understand the infrastructure that blockchain networks depend on and the engineering involved in keeping it reliable.
Earlier this year, we made support for the Argentine university program part of our tenth-anniversary activities and contributed mining and infrastructure content to earlier sessions. Working with local educators allows us to combine that industry knowledge with their understanding of students’ learning needs.
Our Long-Term Commitment to Latin America
Latin America has long been an important market for ViaBTC. Alongside serving miners across the region, we are committed to building lasting relationships with local communities. Continued collaboration with educators and support for free university courses are part of that commitment, helping us share knowledge beyond the mining industry and reach students with limited access to these subjects.
According to ONG Bitcoin Argentina, previous editions of Bitcoin in Universities reached more than 1,300 students, faculty members and university staff at 20 universities across seven Argentine provinces. Our partnership allows us to contribute technical expertise to an established education program with connections across the country.
We see this work as an ongoing investment in local education. By supporting successive university sessions and working with local partners over time, we aim to make Bitcoin education more accessible and help more young people develop the knowledge to explore the technology for themselves.
Coming in October: UADE and UB
With the Córdoba event completed, the current round of university sessions is entering its final stage. The next stops are the Argentine University of Enterprise (UADE) and the University of Belgrano (UB), with both events scheduled for October.
