Bitcoin Education at UADE: ViaBTC Continues Supporting Argentine Universities
2026-10-21 15:46

On October 19, around 140 students gathered at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) in Buenos Aires for a morning of learning about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrency mining. Organized by the nonprofit ONG Bitcoin Argentina with support from ViaBTC, the on-campus session combined introductory lessons, practical demonstrations and discussion.

The event was part of Bitcoin in Universities (Bitcoin en las Universidades), a program offering free courses to university communities across Argentina. Following earlier sessions at institutions including Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) and Universidad Católica de Córdoba (UCC), UADE marked the second-to-last university stop in the series, ahead of two final sessions at Universidad de Belgrano (UB).

From Familiar Concepts to Blockchain in Practice

The session began with an illustrated overview of the evolution of money, connecting everyday payment methods with Bitcoin. Instructors then introduced Bitcoin’s key characteristics and blockchain fundamentals, giving students a foundation for the topics that followed.

Lessons on cryptocurrency exchanges and mining hardware extended the discussion to how people use and participate in these networks. A demonstration of on-chain data showed how anyone can look up blockchain records, giving students a concrete way to explore what they had learned.

Students asked questions and interacted with the instructors throughout the session. These exchanges gave them opportunities to clarify unfamiliar concepts and connect the material with their own interests.

Making Infrastructure Knowledge Accessible

The hardware and network data introduced in class offer a starting point for understanding the infrastructure behind Bitcoin. How do hashrate, software and nodes work together? What does it take to keep that infrastructure running reliably?

These questions connect directly to ViaBTC’s experience operating mining pool infrastructure for Bitcoin and other proof-of-work (PoW) networks. Over the past decade, work in node deployment, protocol integration, block propagation and ongoing maintenance has built practical expertise in blockchain protocols and distributed systems. Collaboration with local educators helps translate that experience into explanations students can follow without a technical background.

At UADE, ViaBTC also shared Cryptocurrency Mining 101, an introductory handbook developed specifically for Spanish-speaking readers. Written in clear, beginner-friendly Spanish, it covers mining and broader blockchain concepts. Students can return to the handbook after the event to review the lessons and explore topics that interest them at their own pace.

Sustaining the Partnership Across Campuses

The UADE session builds on several months of collaboration across Argentine universities. ViaBTC included the program in its tenth-anniversary activities earlier this year and has continued supporting it as the courses reached more campuses. Alongside serving miners across Latin America, we continue to work with local educators to make industry knowledge more accessible to university communities.

Free courses give students an opportunity to explore subjects they may have had little exposure to, while Spanish-language resources support continued study. Together, these efforts serve a consistent purpose: helping students understand how the technology works, recognize its risks and develop the knowledge to explore it independently.

Next Stop: UB

The program will next visit UB for two in-person sessions on October 27 and November 2. Both will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. local time and are open to the public.

The sessions will take place at Auditorio Roca (Basement Level 1), Zabala 1837, Buenos Aires. Further details and registration are available on the event page.
