ViaBTC’s Auto Conversion feature automatically exchanges a supported coin balance into BTC or USDT on an hourly basis. It operates after mining rewards are credited to your account and does not change how the pool calculates those rewards. The setting can also convert deposited coins held in the same balance, so review the balance before enabling it.
This guide explains how to enable Auto Conversion, what affects execution, and how it differs from Instant Conversion and Auto Withdrawal.
How to Enable Auto Conversion on ViaBTC
Before starting, check that your coin supports Auto Conversion, choose your destination asset, and review the applicable conversion fees and limits. Make sure the balance does not include deposited coins you want to keep in the original asset.
Follow these steps in your ViaBTC account:
- Log in and go to Assets → My Assets.
- Select the coin you want to convert.
- Open Settings for that coin.
- Turn on Auto Conversion.
- Select the available Conversion Direction, such as BTC to USDT.
- Complete the required security verification to activate the setting.
The ViaBTC conversion guide lists supported currencies and documents the setup process. Minimum and maximum amounts for a single conversion vary by currency; refer to the conversion page for current limits.
What Balance Does Auto Conversion Apply To?
Auto Conversion applies to the selected coin balance, including both mining rewards and deposited coins. It is not limited to rewards credited after you enable the setting.
The feature exchanges one asset for another. It does not change your hashrate, worker uptime, mining-pool fee rate, selected payment method, or the pool’s reward calculation. Mining rewards are calculated under the applicable payment method, such as PPS+ or PPLNS, before the resulting balance is converted. See ViaBTC’s reward calculation documentation.
However, conversion has a financial effect: fees and execution prices affect how much of the destination asset you receive, and subsequent price movements affect its value.
Execution Timing, Pricing, and Fees
Auto Conversion runs hourly, but this does not mean every reward increment is exchanged immediately. If a balance is too small during a scheduled cycle, the system may not trigger a conversion.
Larger conversion orders may take one to two hours to execute fully. This is not a guaranteed maximum: third-party exchange market conditions can cause delays. If a conversion remains incomplete for an extended period, contact ViaBTC support.
Conversion pricing follows real-time market depth at ViaBTC’s partnered exchanges. Displayed prices and estimated amounts are for reference; the actual amount received depends on the final execution result.
Conversion transactions also incur a handling fee based on the relevant third-party exchange’s fee standard. Review the applicable fee information before enabling the feature; if it is unclear, confirm it with ViaBTC support. These rules are described in the official conversion guide.
Choosing BTC or USDT
The conversion direction determines which asset you hold after execution.
Converting an altcoin balance to BTC shifts exposure from that coin to BTC, whose price can also fluctuate. For miners receiving BTC rewards, converting to USDT is an option to consider based on their intended use of the balance.
Converting to USDT reduces direct exposure to the original coin’s price movements against the U.S. dollar, but USDT is a token rather than a bank-held dollar balance. Tether’s terms state that its tokens are not covered by FDIC or SIPC protections. See Tether’s terms, section 4.1.
Neither direction changes the rewards originally calculated by the pool. The choice affects the asset held, conversion costs, and the balance’s subsequent value.
Auto Conversion vs. Instant Conversion vs. Auto Withdrawal
| Feature | Function | Timing or trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Conversion | Automatically exchanges a supported coin balance into BTC or USDT | Runs hourly, subject to balance size and execution conditions |
| Instant Conversion | Exchanges a specific amount selected by the user | Initiated when the user completes verification and submits an order; completion depends on execution conditions |
| Auto Withdrawal | Transfers eligible funds to an external address, CoinEx, or the user’s own ViaBTC main/sub-account | Runs once daily between 10:00 and 18:00 GMT+8, subject to withdrawal conditions |
To withdraw converted funds automatically, configure Auto Withdrawal for the destination asset. Conversion and withdrawal follow separate schedules, so a completed conversion does not mean an immediate withdrawal.
Withdrawal thresholds also depend on the asset and destination. As checked on September 11, 2026, ViaBTC’s official Auto Withdrawal table lists minimums of 0.001 BTC and 100,000 USDT. When withdrawing to your own ViaBTC main/sub-account, the minimum does not apply as long as the withdrawal amount is greater than zero. These are withdrawal rules, not Auto Conversion limits. Check the current Auto Withdrawal rules before relying on an automatic withdrawal workflow.
How to Check Conversion History
Go to Assets → My Assets → History → Conversion Records to review conversion order history.
After enabling the feature, check the first conversions to confirm that you selected the intended direction. Use the final execution result rather than an earlier estimate when checking the amount received.
Example: Converting DOGE Merged-Mining Rewards
An eligible miner mining LTC with ViaBTC can also receive DOGE through merged mining. The miner can enable Auto Conversion for the DOGE balance to exchange it into BTC or USDT, reducing the need to submit conversion orders manually. ViaBTC documents this use in its merged-mining guide.
The setting does not change the DOGE rewards calculated by the pool. It exchanges the resulting DOGE balance, including any deposited DOGE, subject to conversion fees and execution conditions.
Why Hasn’t a Conversion Completed?
If a conversion does not appear immediately, check whether:
- The coin supports Auto Conversion and the setting is enabled.
- The balance may have been too small to trigger conversion during the hourly cycle.
- An order is still executing because of its size or exchange market conditions.
Review conversion order history and contact ViaBTC support if the delay persists. A difference between an estimated and executed amount is a pricing matter, rather than evidence that an order failed.
FAQ
Does Auto Conversion change my mining rewards?
It does not change the rewards calculated by the pool. Conversion fees and execution prices affect the destination amount received, and market movements affect its subsequent value.
Does Auto Conversion apply only to mining rewards?
No. It can also convert deposited coins in the selected balance.
Does Auto Conversion guarantee completion every hour?
No. Small balances may not trigger conversion, and execution can take additional time.
Can converted funds be withdrawn automatically?
You can separately configure Auto Withdrawal for the destination asset, subject to its schedule, payout settings, and applicable minimum. Check those conditions before relying on daily withdrawals.
Where can I check conversion orders?
Go to Assets → My Assets → History → Conversion Records.
